Summer allergies trigger watery eyes, stuffy noses and difficulty breathing, but you could buy garlic and bid them goodbye. The herb is an effective natural decongestant with a strong aroma that relieves sinus pressure when the allergies flare. It contains healing oils and antioxidants that boost the immune system and relieve puffy eyes, itching skin, rashes, hives and chest coughing. As an antihistamine, garlic fights off histamine in the body, making allergy flare-ups — by foods, mounds, dust, pollen and pet dander — less severe.

How Can You Use Garlic to Treat Allergies?

Peel about five garlic cloves and chop them into small pieces. Add the chopped cloves to a cup containing two teaspoons of natural honey and mix them until they form a thick syrup. Scoop a small chunk of the garlic-honey syrup and swallow it. If you do it three times a day, the allergy symptoms should be less severe or completely relieved. Mince or crush garlic cloves and place them on a thin washcloth or cheesecloth. Take the cloth's opposite sides and fold them over the crushed garlic — until the cloth is folded up like a burrito. Get a bowl containing warm water, and place your poultice in it for a few seconds. Squeeze out the poultice and place it on the chest, face or any other desired area. This way, the solution will diffuse into the skin and get rid of those irritating allergies.
